Welcome Back!

Good Afternoon CFI Families!

This week’s blog will be primarily information about upcoming dates and events with some recap of our week.

In writing we have started writing how to books and exploring this informational genre. In the picture below we are working on how to books with Mrs. Waugh in writing workshop and “mucking” in books. We explored examples of this genre to figure out what all needs to be included in a how to book. We will be sharing some of our own works in our last learning celebration of the year next Friday.

We will also be sharing about our plant unit. Our lima beans have started to sprout and we will be planting more next week. Here we are sketching our lima bean growth below. We also looked at the plant life cycle, plant parts, and plant classification this week with the help of the amazing pictures sent in over spring break. We discovered that most of the plants depicted were flowering plants and are still working on identifying two unknown non flowering plants. We are busy preparing for gathering next week and will share more then about our learning so stay tuned!

Next Friday the 28th is our last gathering at 2:20 and we would love it if you could join us to celebrate our learning.

We are also going to the New Sandhills Library that day. Please let me know if you would be available to accompany us. We meet at the library at 9:15.

Our next Field Trip form went home yesterday. We will be going to the Cottle Strawberry Farm on Thursday, May 4th. We will leave from CFI at 9:00 and return at 1:30. We will eat at their picnic area. Please let me know if you can come with us and take part in this fun day!
